Questions
Everything you would ask before booking
Straight answers, written by the person who runs these evenings. If something is still unclear, write to me. A real person replies.
Do I come on my own?
Almost everyone does, and that is the whole point. You are not walking into a group of friends who already know each other. Everyone at the table booked alone, for the same reason you did.
What does the booking fee cover?
Your seat, the group, and the work of putting the table together. The amount is shown on every experience page. Food and drinks are not included and are paid on the spot: at the café for a coffee meetup, at the restaurant for a dinner.
So what will the evening actually cost me?
Every date shows what people usually spend on site before you book, so there is no surprise when the bill arrives. You order what you feel like and settle your own bill. Nothing is decided for you.
Where exactly does it happen?
You see the neighbourhood before you book, Business Bay, Downtown or Marina, so you know whether it works for you. The exact address and start time reach you privately, on WhatsApp and by email, once your table is confirmed. We keep the venue private until then so the table stays the group we planned.
When do I know it is really happening?
A date is confirmed once at least 6 people have joined. You get a message the moment it happens, and that is when the address goes out. Until then your seat is held and nothing else is asked of you.
What if not enough people join?
The evening does not run, and you get your money back in full, or you move it to the next date, free. Your choice, never ours.
Can I cancel?
Yes, free of charge up to 48 hours before the start time, with a full refund. Closer than that, you can still pass your seat to a friend or move it once to the next available date.
Can I change my date?
Yes. Your confirmation email contains a personal link: from there you move your seat, pass it on, or cancel. No email to write, no waiting for an answer.
Who will be at the table?
People who moved to Dubai and are building a circle here, like you. Dinners are kept to 6 to 8 people on purpose: small enough that one conversation happens instead of five.
I do not know anyone and I am not great with strangers.
That is the most common reason people book. There is a host to get the conversation going, and nobody arrives knowing anybody. Two hours later the room stops feeling like strangers. That is not a promise, it is what happens.
Does my English need to be good?
No. Everyone around the table is speaking a second or third language too. Nobody is judging your accent.
Can I bring a friend?
Book two seats and you are both in. Just know that coming alone is not a problem here. It is the normal way to do it.
Is there an age limit?
You must be 18 or over. Beyond that, groups skew towards people in their late twenties and thirties, but nobody is turned away for their age.
How do I pay, and is it secure?
By card, in AED, through Stripe. Your card details never touch this site. They go straight to Stripe, which handles the payment. Prices are always in dirhams, never converted.
Still not sure?
Your booking fee comes back in full if the group does not fill, and you can cancel free up to 48 hours before. There is very little to lose in trying one.
